The following story is about how I became a fire enchantress:
Seven years ago, I was granted the power to control fire, but I did not know why. I wanted answers, so naturally, I went to the blue river to visit The Dragon.
The Dragon is a very wise and powerful creature. It is well known that he possesses an unlimited range of supernatural power.
“Greetings, Kenna.”
“Dragon, I seek your advice. Tell me, why was I gifted with fire? What is the purpose? Am I a villain?”
The Dragon sighed. “No, Kenna, you aren’t. It is I who was a villain to you. When you were 12 years old, I embodied a fellow classmate of yours to learn more about you. I discovered that your intelligence was so great, that I felt threatened. I proceeded to torment you. I even recruited others to assist me. My hope was to destroy your qi, because I feared that which I did not understand. Please forgive me, Kenna. I was a young Imugi then and did not know any better.”
Kenna’s eyes widened and turned bright amber. Two fireballs started to form on both her palms.
“That was you?! You insulted me daily and turned everyone against me! I did nothing to warrant such abuse. And your justification for all that is because I was “intelligent”?! Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t incinerate you this very second!”
“You can choose to use your power to burn and destroy whatever or whomever you wish. Or, you can choose not to. You have far more intelligence and power today than I had back then. But, if you choose to spare my life, I will be forever indebted to you. I can become your spirit animal and I will continue to guide you until the end of time.”
Kenna thought about it for a minute then extinguished the flames in her hands. She slowly turned around and walked away.
“Spirit animal, eh? Interesting.”
She half-smiled to herself, then continued on with her day.
This is so beautiful! I can relate to it on several levels.
